Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos minor) is the smallest european woodpecker. It is just a little larger than a sparrow. This is common bird in forests, parks and gardens but it is rare seen because of its size. It's easier to recognize this species by its voice than to see it
 It was just couple of weeks ago when I saw this bird for very first time. I always heard their callings in forests but I was unable to locate the birds. A couple of weeks ago I went for a walk and I paid attention on a small flock of hawfinches. Then when I looked closer I saw this woodpecker among hawfinches. It was a male, he was jumping from trunk to trunk looking for something to eat Very nice bird indeed Corel Painter 8 + Graphic Tablet |
