Bali starling

Bali starling (Leucopsar rothschildi).
This is one of the most endangered bird species in the world. This species is endemic to the island of Bali, but perhaps it doesn't exist in the wild anymore (in 2001 were 6 birds left... ). But about 1,000 are believed to survive in captivity, and there is still hope to save the species from extinction. Since 1983, there is an international project called 'Bali Starling Project' which helps to bolster up the wild population through release of captive-bred birds. Every breeder is bound to forward one of the ten raised young birds to the Bali National Park.
I've made this pic for my favourite pet shop called "Balistar". The owner of this shop is a real bali starling lover and he breeds them in captivity with good results.
